This project consisted of constructing floodgates, levee floodwalls, and tie-ins near Belle Chasse Tunnel, and overhead mounted roller gates within the approaches on each side of the Belle Chasse Tunnel.  The project included 48,615 SF of sheet pile, 46,882 LF of H-Pile, 900 LF of concrete T-Wall, five structural steel gates, a railroad crossing and floodgate, and miscellaneous embankment and site work. >> See full description >>>>

  • WBV-77 – Western Tie-In UP Railroad and LA-18 Crossing, St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, for the New Orleans District, Corps of Engineers

This project included a railroad gate at the Union Pacific railroad crossing, and an earth ramp at LA-18 that was raised to the 100 year elevation and paved.

  • WBV-16.2 – Bayou Segnette Complex, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, for the New Orleans District, Corps of Engineers

IMG_2872IMG_3227The Bayou Segnette Complex was constructed in a low-lying area, with portions of the site being situated in a navigable waterway.  The project consisted of constructing levees, T-Walls, a 400 cfs drainage pumping station, and a 56’ wide sector gate to provide protection against the 1% storm surge.  A 60-foot wide navigation channel extends upstream and downstream of the sector gate, and new guide walls and mooring dolphins were constructed in the channel on each side of the sector gate.  A T-wall also extends from the sector gate to an earthen levee.  The earthen levee extends to the flood wall north of Lapalco Boulevard. >> See full description >>>>

  • WBV – 90  GIWW-West Closure Complex, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, for the New Orleans District, Corps of Engineers

WBV – 90- GIWW-West Closure Complex included construction of a 225-ft sector gate, 75-ft sluice gate, a 19,140 cfs pump station; T-wall along the edge of the 404c area; levee and excavation/dredging for a gated closure south of the confluence of Harvey and Algiers canals.

Examples of individual parts of this very large contract on which CD&D provided Quality Assurance services on the GIWW-West Closure Complex are:

-        Dredging of approximately 700,000 CY from the Algiers Canal, of which 500,000 CY were used beneficially for marsh restoration in the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. The restoration project also included approximately 20,000 tons of rip rap and geotextile fabric for a rip rap barrier.

-        A new earthen levee relocation approximately 1.5 miles in length was constructed to an elevation of +15.0 above normal water level replacing an existing levee with an original levee height of +8.5 ft.

-        A concrete T-wall was constructed alongside the Bayou aux Carpes 404 (c) area to protect the area. The T-wall was founded on concrete piles and included a sheet pile cut off.  The design limited the foot print of construction to an area 100 feet wide by 4,200 feet long.>> See full description >>>>
