Debris Removal and Demolition Missions

new_orleans_debris_management_1CD&D was awarded $21.5 M contract by the New Orleans District to provide 100 Quality Assurance (QA) Inspectors for the Debris and Demolition Missions in support of the New Orleans District’s response to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  QA Inspection services were provided in Sector 2A, Orleans Parish, LA, and involved all phases of the debris reduction missions from white metals to demolition of damaged structures.

This debris mission included, but was not limited to the following:

(1)        monitoring removal of construction and demolition (C & D) materials resulting from property owners gutting their homes;

(2)       identifying discarded asbestos containing roofing materials in hurricane debris and assuring proper disposal;


(3)       assuring compliance with EPA regulations for Freon recovery from refrigerated units at the white goods landfill;

(4)       debris removal from drainage canals in St. Bernard Parish; and

(5)       woody debris removal such as trees and stumps.

Almost two thirds of the personnel were provided from the local area.
